Wearing a corset has never been this easy
Whenever I heard the word corset, my mind automatically associated it with discomfort or sacrifice, something I would most likely avoid to wear.
If we look back in history, between the 18th and 19th century, women used corsets to reshape their bodies, which was possibly the most iconic sacrifice they did. Right after that, the corset trend just kinda moved to the lingerie department, where it stayed for a while, or more recently, to the gym, for reshape purposes (but I think you better leave that one for the Kardashians lol).
A couple of weeks ago, I decided that corsets are actually not that bad. How did that happen? The AW16 catwalks! I absolutely love the way the corset got reinvented! Take a look yourself:
You can wear it and actually breathe now, because the corset has become a belt-like tool. It works perfectly if you want to give your outfit that extra attitude. You wear it over your clothes, as relaxed as you want to. You can even wear it on top of a simple oversized t-shirt.
Don’t be afraid to mix and match. Celebrities and fashion lovers are already embracing this fashion trend in every way possible. Rhianna, Kim Kardashian or Gigi Hadid are just a few names on the list. In case you need some inspiration, these are my favorite street style moments:
So get your layers together this season and don’t be afraid to mark your waist! Talking about layering – major trend alert! But we’ll talk about it some other time.
What do you think? Would you wear a corset now? In case your answer is yes, I’ve put together a little shopping list of my top picks!
